Cheshire Medical Center Implements MediClick Suite
New Hampshire hospital credits training assistance for smooth startup
RALEIGH, N.C. – July 16, 2008 – Cheshire Medical Center, a 169-bed
acute care hospital based in Keene, N.H., recently completed implementation of two
MediClick solutions: MediClick for the Supply Chain and MediClick for Financials.
Cheshire Controller Mary Sherwin and Director of Materiel Management George Rennie
were pleased with not only the applications, but the integration process itself.
“MediClick’s support and training process really impressed me,” says Rennie.
“I’ve been through implementations at other hospitals and learning a new system
is difficult, but everyone at Cheshire caught on quickly because MediClick’s training
process was so thorough.”
The hospital’s conversion from its legacy system to MediClick's software-as-a-service
(SaaS) applications was led by Debbie Corey and Lisa Fohey, both senior implementation
consultants for MediClick.
Corey notes that the Cheshire staff was dedicated to the new system before the implementation
process even began. “The hospital had all their staff on board, from the top
down,” says Corey. “The Cheshire staff had more than just an appreciation
of the process – they were dedicated to going the extra mile because they understood
that a smooth implementation makes their ongoing processes easier.”
Sherwin, Cheshire’s controller, notes that part of that process involved “homework”
for her and her staff as they learned the system, but she acknowledges that it was
worth the effort. “Their training database allowed us to learn the system
with our own data,” says Sherwin. “Looking at your own data is so helpful
because it reflects what the system will actually be like at go-live. We could
already see the possibilities.”
MediClick’s training process continually evolves to better suit and meet customer
needs, explains Fohey. “For Cheshire, we started the training process earlier
than ever before, and it paid off, giving them a clear understanding of how their
preparations would affect go-live,” she says. “Just as we are constantly updating
our products, MediClick is constantly updating processes to better help its customers.”
But processes and applications alone are only theoretical; Cheshire’s Mary Sherwin
recognizes that it takes much more to run a hospital. “MediClick brought knowledge
‘from the trenches’ that helped us through the process,” she says. “Debbie’s
been a controller and Lisa was a logistics manager at a hospital, so they understand
what we want to do and what works in a practical setting.”
The implementation process was so successful, Cheshire has also adopted and begun
implementation of MediClick for Contracts & Analysis, MediClick’s newest application
which helps hospitals control contract pricing and discover savings opportunities.
MediClick’s ongoing customer service has matched their implementation dedication:
“You don’t feel alone after implementation,” says Sherwin.
Rennie adds that “they took us by surprise, but it was a good surprise.” He
recounts how his purchasing manager was thrilled to receive a call back within a
half-hour when he contacted MediClick’s customer service with a question.
MediClick President Mike Merwarth reflects that such ongoing partnership “is a cornerstone
of success in any venture, but particularly when a hospital implements widespread
change.
“The personnel at Cheshire took control of their supply chain,” he says, “dedicating
themselves to both their new system and the implementation process. As a company,
we’re devoted to remaining active partners for our customers.”
